Cultural responsive pedagogy is an approach to teaching that acknowledges and values diversity by researching ways to promote student involvement and establishing a welcoming, pleasant, and inclusive environment.

This approach started in the 1990s and has three components: student learning, cultural competence, and critical consciousness.
